We plan to return for a Bison Safari with friends in the near future. The owners maintain a very clean and professional environment with the ranch headquarters situated along Witch Creek outside Ramona. There were several children in the group and they seemed enthralled by the ranch experience. Before coming to Farm and Dairy, she worked at several daily and weekly newspapers throughout Western Pennsylvania covering everything from education and community news to police and courts. In addition to learning about the challenges of growing and processing hops in a semi-arid location, we also learned about a unique process for creating fodder from barley to feed the bison. The family offers "Bison Safaris" for groups of up to four by prior arrangement. We did not see any Bison, they were all in remote pastures of the Ranch, but we did interact with friendly donkey who "wandered onto the ranch and decided to stay". The Ranch is 1200 acres, only 2 of which are dedicated to growing hops in support of the local craft brewing community in San Diego. We visited this Ranch and Hop Farm on a "Friends of Farming" tour sponsored by the San Diego Farm Bureau specifically to see the hop farm.
